Michael Appl joins the managing board at Henke-Sass, Wolf

With the turn of the year, Michael Appl has joined the management team as Co-CEO, consisting of CEO Henner Witte and Co-CEO Silke Hartmann. The 53-year-old will be responsible for the production areas, logistics and quality management.

At the turn of the year 2022/23, Michael Appl was appointed the third managing director (Co-CEO) of the medical technology manufacturer Henke-Sass, Wolf. The 53-year-old, who was born in Ulm, was officially introduced to the company's executives on Wednesday, January 11, at a reception in the winter garden of the company's headquarters in Tuttlingen-Möhringen.

Michael Appl thus complements the management board consisting of CEO Henner Witte and Co-CEO Silke Hartmann. In addition, Michael Appl, together with Henner Witte and Silke Hartmann, is also responsible for the subsidiaries of the Henke-Sass, Wolf Group in Seitingen-Oberflacht, Berlin, Göttingen, Poland, China and the USA.

The three managing directors share the responsibilities as follows: Henner Witte continues to be responsible for the areas of marketing and sales, research and development as well as regulatory affairs. As commercial director, Silke Hartmann will continue to manage the areas of purchasing, human resources, controlling, financial accounting and IT. Michael Appl takes over the important areas of production, logistics and quality management.

"With Michael Appl we are gaining a proven production expert who will continue to keep Henke-Sass, Wolf on the road to success in the coming years with his know-how and expertise," explained CEO Henner Witte. Michael Appl studied production engineering in Ulm and has worked in various production areas since 1995. Since 2003 he has held managerial positions in the mechanical engineering and medical technology sectors, but always with reference to production. For the past eight years, Appl has assumed responsibility as a member of the production management team at Lindauer Dornier GmbH.

"You can see that I am a 'full-blooded producer'," said Michael Appl in his address to the division and department heads during the welcome reception. "I wish for clear words and a direct Swabian dialogue at eye level and with respect. It is important to me to treat my colleagues the way I would like to be treated. For me, this is essential for good cooperation.”
